Kate Wolf - Across the Great Divide
(by AmateurViolinist)

I learned of Kate Wolf from the KPFA Sunday morning radio program that takes its name from her song, Across the Great Divide. Some mornings Robbie is smooth and gentle, like Kate. Some mornings the “Wobblie” shines thru, as in this playlist.
For example, I first these songs from Robbie:
I Will Be Blessed - Ben Howard
(by Fullbriah0804)
Said who do you love the most
Who you wanna call before you die
Oh my ghost came by here
Said who do you love the most
Who you gonna sing to ‘fore you’re gone
Oh hey heaven is the place we know
Heaven is the arms that hold us
Long before we go
Oh hey, heaven is the place we know
Heaven is the arms that hold us
Long before we go
Oh my ghost came by here
Said who do you love the most
Who you gonna sing to ‘fore you go
Oh hey heaven is the place we know
Heaven is the arms that hold us
Long before we go
Oh hey, heaven is the place we know
Heaven is the arms that hold us
Long before we go
Oh if you’re there
When the world comes to gather me in
Oh if you’re there
I will be blessed
Oh if you’re there
When the world comes to gather me in
Oh if you’re there
I will be blessed
Oh if you’re there
When the world comes to gather me in
I hear you’re there
I will be blessed
I will be blessed
Oh if you’re there
When the world comes to gather me in
Oh if you’re there
I will be blessed
I will be blessed
Damn! That playout section is so nice. What does it remind me of? Peter Gabriel’s Up comes to mind, but I think there’s a better reference. I’m curious how much the producer Chris Bondcontributed to the shape of the track.
The track is somewhat hard to find in The States. It’s on the Deluxe Edition Every Kingdom.
Bill Maher Interview With Charles Murray (by imnewshound)
This is a tough one, wondering if it satisfies the genre “stumbling into awe”. I am touched by the image Murray conjures, “…places where if the old lady across the street had snow on her walk somebody went over and shoveled it.” I am challenged to actually do the research. “This is not rocket science, this is census numbers… We can’t get anywhere if we’re arguing about something we can look up”
“At this point, it almost doesn’t matter who’s right because we’ve gotten cultural changes that are in place, and they aren’t gonna go away just because we switch back to other policies that either you or I might have preferred in the past.”
